Singaporeans love to travel and can often be found planning their next getaway whenever a long weekend approaches.
With Malaysia's proximity, attractive exchange rate, delicious food, and great shopping options, Singaporeans travelled across the causeway for short breaks during the eight long weekends in 2016.
Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang, and Malacca were among their top 10 travel destinations over the past year, a recent study by Hotels.com revealed.

Its hotel price index found that, as compared with 2015, the average price of a hotel room per night in these Malaysian cities fell by up to 12 per cent in 2016, with prices ranging from $88 (Malacca) to $106 (Kuala Lumpur).
And along with more affordable accommodation options in 2016, the study observed the rising popularity of Penang and Malacca as Singaporeans' favourite travel destinations.
